On 30th december 2011, The West Bengal School Service Commission has announced to recruit 54,000 (Fifty Four Thousand) teachers for the year 2012. This teacher's list includes Govt. aided Higher Nursery, Secondary & Higher Secondary schools. WBSSC Chairman, Chittranjan Mondal stated that till date, there are 7,210 vacancies in 13,000 schools; and till exam finishes this vacancy will lead to near about 14,000 to 15,000. Besides abiding by the law of Right to Education Pashimbanga C.M. Mamata Banerjee has approved a more 39,000 teachers recruitment, so total number would be around 54,000 (15,000+39,000=54,000). WBSSC Chairman also said that the Government is also planning to reserve 50% seats in Govt. & private colleges for all the successful candidates in this exam, who do not have a B.Ed degree. 10% seats among the additional 39,000 seats stated above have been reserved for Para-Teachers, Contractual-Teachers, Part time-Teachers & Additional Teachers. Also, the maximum age limit is settled at 55. Mr. Chittaranjan Mondal also said that till date, one could retake his/her SSC exam after the completion 3 years of his/her teaching. However, from this year onwards, the duration has been reduced to 2 years. From this year, students of Bio-Technology, Micro-Biology & Antropology can apply for Biology posts. Also the students from Fine & performing Arts, Needle Work Diploma (2years) can apply for Work Education posts. The Expected Date of this examination is 22nd July, 2012.
